What does Well Fargo Platinum Visa Credit Card have to Offer in Terms of Balance Transfers?

New card members of the Platinum Visa Credit Card offers an introductory rate of 0% for 18 months from date of account opening. Balance transfers must be completed within 120 days of account opening.  If you are not able to complete a balance transfer within the 120 days of account opening then the introductory rate of 0% is not available.

The same introductory rate of 0% for 18 months applies on purchases.  There are a lot of cards that do not offer this rate for purchases.  Normally they charge interest on new purchases unless you pay the entire balance (including any transferred balance) in full each month by the due date.  Otherwise you will get hit with the variable APR interest rates.  The fact Well Fargo offers this rate and term on purchases is a good thing.  There are other cards that offer this introductory rate and term such as the Discover It Cash Back Card.

Does the Platinum Visa Card have a low APR Interest Rate after the Introductory Offer?

After the introductory interest rate of 0% for 18 months is up your interest rate will range from 16.99% – 26.49%, based on your creditworthiness.  This interest rate is starting to fall in the range of higher interest rate cards.  Keep in mind these rates will vary base on the Prime Rate.

  • Balance Transfer Rate – 0% introductory APR for 18 months from date of account opening; after that your variable APR for purchases will be 16.99% – 26.49% based on your creditworthiness. Balance transfers must be completed within 120 days of account opening.

Whether you are looking for a break from current interest rates with a 0% APR for only 6 months or up to 18 or 21 months, you will find our current offers here.

Are there any Fees that Apply to the Wells Fargo Platinum Visa Card?

Balance Transfers – 3% fee or $5.00 which ever is greater within the first 120 days of account opening.  After that, up to 5%for each balance transfer, with a minimum of  $5.

Late Fees – Up to $37.  There are other cards that never charge for late payments.  Check out the Citi Simplicity Balance Transfer MasterCard.

Penalties – We do not see a penalty APR at the time this article was written.  But we do see an APR of 25.49% – 27.49% for overdraft protection.

Annual Fee – There is no annual fee.

Cash Advances – $10 or 5% whichever is greater.  APR for cash advances is 25.49% – 27.49% and will vary based on the Prime Rate.

Foreign Transaction – 3% of each transaction after conversion to US dollars.

Are there any perks to having the Platinum Visa Card?

  • Auto rental collision damage waiver
  • Roadside dispatch
  • Travel accident insurance
  • Travel and emergency assistance services
  • Cell phone protection.

Plus take advantage of:

  • Zero Liability protection to protect you from liability for unauthorized transactions when you report them promptly.
  • Overdraft Protection by linking your credit card to your Wells Fargo checking account, finance charges apply.
  • Emergency card replacement
  • Alerts to help monitor purchases, payment due dates, and more.
  • Chip technology for better protection against counterfeit fraud when used at a chip-enabled terminal.

They seem to have a lot listed on their website but not much that stands our from their competitors other than the travel and roadside benefits.

Bottom Line:  Does Wells Fargo Platinum Visa have the Longest 0% Balance Transfer Offer?

Having 18 months to pay off debt can be a substantial amount of time.  But we find with this card, having that extra amount of time will leave you with higher interest rates after the introductory offer.  There are other cards with longer terms, see link at bottom of article.  And, there are things we don't like about the card.  For instance, they don't offer the best perks.  Now a days every credit card company offers the same standard perks and who doesn't want a credit card that has benefits that other card companies don't offer.

We hope this article has helped you in answering your question of: Does Wells Fargo Platinum Visa have the Longest 0% Balance Transfer Offer?
